PAPAR, SABAH – Barisan Nasional (BN) components especially Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) have been urged to show the coalition’s solidarity by coming out in full force on polling day.
Making the call was PBS Secretary General Datuk Johnny Mositun who said that the party is ready to ensure that BN wins in the 14th general election.
According to him PBS members and supporters in the Kawang and Pantai Manis state constituencies which make up the parliamentary seat of Papar are united and ready to prove that PBS is a strong and valuable member of the BN coalition.
“The disappointment at Limbahau not being contested as a state constituency in this General will not dishearten or deter PBS members and supporters. We will go all out and vote en bloc for a big BN victory come polling day. We will ensure bigger victory margins for BN in Papar and silence the critics,” Mositun said at a ‘Dialogue with BN Candidates’ session with local residents.
Papar BN Division Chairman, Datuk Abdul Rahim Ismail and incumbent Papar MP Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin were present.
Mositun said the fact that the opposition was especially critical of PBS and viciously attacked the party and its leaders at every opportunity showed that they viewed PBS as a force to reckon with.
“Otherwise, why would they bother with PBS if we are no longer relevant. Why do they keep attacking Tan Sri Pairin Kitingan so harshly, calling for him to retire? They are scared, that’s why. And even more scared now that Tan Sri Pairin is contesting in this General Election. They know that loyalty to Tan Sri Pairin means loyalty to PBS, which you all have shown and keeps our party strong. Use that strength and unity to keep BN strong,” Mositun said and stressed that BN would ensure continuity and stability for Sabah.
“BN’s track record is there for all to see. Over the last 15 years we have seen unprecedented development and economic growth under the guidance of our Chief Minister, Tan Sri Musa Aman. Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, has also acknowledged the past neglect of Sabah and has done much to make amends.
“He has increased Federal funding for Sabah, opened the door to talks on MA63, and has pledged devolution of Federal powers for us to manage our own affairs…
“And very significantly he has pledged in the BN manifesto to initiate steps for the recognition of the UEC for university admission. Under such circumstances PBS will not betray his faith in Sabah as a BN “Fixed Deposit. Never,” Mositun said.
With regards to Limbahau, Mositun said much had been done to meet the numerous requests for help and assistance from villagers, and this would be continued.
“This not just my personal pledge but also that of the incumbent BN candidates Datuk Abdul Rahim (DUN- Pantai Manis), Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan(DUN-Kawang) and Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin (Parliament-Papar),” Mositun said.
In their speeches Abdul Rahim and Rosnah also pledged the continuity of development programs and projects in the Papar Parliamentary Constituency .
Both expressed thanks to PBS members and supporters in Papar for the strong support they had given BN over the years and hoped this would continue in GE 14.
