TUARAN, SABAH – Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) suffered a major setback on Sunday when its Tuaran division committee members cum election district heads quit en bloc and switched allegiance to Barisan Nasional.
Led by its election deputy director for Tuaran cum Tamparuli deputy co-ordinator, Rajimit Gunong, the move has crippled the entire operation of Tuaran PKR office here.
Rajimit said they have lost confidence with the party’s leadership both at the division and State level namely Ombilod Onul and Christina Liew.
“They simply cannot be trusted,” he said in a simple ceremony attended by BN candidate for Tuaran parliamentary seat, Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau and BN candidate for Tamparuli state seat, Datuk Jahid Jahim.
In this respect, Rajimit said that after making careful considerations they have decided to back BN, which have been proven to have a proven track record.
Tangau in his response speech congratulated the group of 12 people who were committee members of the Tuaran PKR division for making the right decision.
He said this latest development should be food for thought to those who are still “outside.”
“I hope they will emulate the footsteps of Rajimit and his colleagues,” he said, adding Rajimit and friends were free to join any BN component party of their choosing.
After that, he witnessed the taking down of PKR flags in the premises by Rajimit who then replaced it with BN flags.
According to Tangau, now that the office had been turned into a BN premises, it would continue to operate but with a different objective that is to garner support for the BN.
