SANDAKAN, SABAH – The Sabah State Government through the Ministry of Industrial Development Sabah in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Development and Research (DIDR), and KKIP Sdn Bhd [KKIP] will be hosting a Roadshow entitled “Championing Sabah’s Digital Economy” @Sandakan on 23rd April 2018, at Ground Floor, Concourse, Harbour Mall, Sandakan.
On a press conference, at Jobs & Ypu Resource Centre, Sandakan, Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Industrial Development, Datuk Seri Raymond Tan Shu Kiah, said, the main objective of the One-Day Roadshow is to disseminate information on government initiatives in digital economic development and to encourage entrepreneurs in Sabah to engage in the marketing of products and services through e-commerce.
“The digital economy now covers all aspect of community life including the way people interact, the economic landscape and the skills needed to get a good job.” He said.
With the emerging digital technology, opportunities abound as businesses expand globally.
This year, he said, the ministry is aim to develop 1,000 SME whole Sabah to be involved into Digital Economy as it also inline with industry 4.0 using internet and global era.
“This seminar aims to create awareness for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Sabah to remain competitive and successful in the ever increasingly challenging business environment.” He added.
Five (5) information sharing sessions will be presented by some highly knowledgeable and experienced people in e-commerce business.
Some of the sharing will touch on e-Usahawan by Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Shared Services and Outsourcing Centre dan Platform BorneoKaki.com by Softwise Sdn Bhd., Platform Shopbah.com by Hybrid Ultimate Worldwide Sdn Bhd, Logistik Apps to solve delivery issues by NCT Group, and How to grow your business in digital age by Chairman of BIMP-EAGA ICT Cluster.
Help desk by various government department and agencies such as the Department of Industrial Development and Research (DIDR), MATRADE, SME Corp, MIDF, SME Bank etc will also be there to disseminate information on various program and assistance provided to assist the development of SMEs.
Companies who had successful in doing business using e-Commerce will also be taking part in the Roadshow.

Meanwhile, Raymond said, the ministry also will give hand to hand solution to help SME and micro business in the Digital Economy.
It includes packaging, marketing, and others criteria needed before the products can be market abroad and worldwide.
For information, there are about 98 percent SME business in Sabah and some of them already markets their products abroad.
SME also contributes 34 percent of Growth Domestic Production.
On 2015 itself, SME also contributes at least 10 billion wages to almost 4,500 employees.
Now, the government is aim to help the SME using Digital Economy to futher helps promotes their business worldwide.
